From the Classifieds to The Veterinarian
I know I've fallen off the wagon with my New Year's Resolution and it's only April. However, some big things for Zaire and me did happen this last week. I got really upset with him when he attacked Mali's foot and bit her on the beak. He kept lunging at me and intimidating me. My frustration took me to the local online classifieds, where I put Zaire up for sale. In just a 24hr period of time, I had 300 views on him and 7 calls expressing interest in adopting him. I didn't answer any of the calls, I just listened to the voice mails. The more I listened to them, the more anxious and sad I got about him possibly leaving. I ended up shedding a few tears and feeling like I had failed him. Later in the night, I went into Zaire's room and was talking to him about him leaving. He wasn't aggressive and put his foot out on my arm and just held it there. I was really confused and I let him step up on me. I took him out to the living room where we watched the Late Night show together on TV and then I put him to bed. The next morning, there wasn't aggression towards me again and I took him to the shower with me. After that, I immediately pulled the add off the classified and decided that this relationship isn't over. I took him to the vet yesterday and had blood work done to see if he is doing ok. Turns out his calcium and phosphorus levels are a little low so Zaire will be getting strawberries and mango added to the diet with a dose of sunshine during the day. We had a good time traveling around in the car yesterday. After the vet we stopped in at my other vet friend's place where we just visited and looked at all the animals. When we got home we went out back and laid in the grass together and enjoyed a lazy sunny afternoon.
Just hangin' out in the backyard enjoying the warm weather.
